Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 attend Art class once a week in the Art Studio. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate and evolves by grade level. Younger students build fine motor skills while learning basic art concepts and creating artwork inspired by stories, themes, and seasonal events. As students progress into the middle and upper grades, they explore more advanced concepts such as depth, perspective, positive and negative space, pattern, symmetry, and detailed composition. Students across all grades study a variety of artists and artistic styles and create original work inspired by those artists. Lessons are integrated with classroom curriculum whenever possible, and all students contribute to a collaborative artwork that is auctioned at the school’s annual Gala fundraising event.
