Music Happenings

Every student from Pre-K through Grade 8 receives weekly Music instruction. Students learn to read music, explore rhythm and melody, study famous musicians, and perform using classroom instruments such as xylophones. Music class also prepares students for school-wide events, including the annual Christmas Show. Divine Wisdom offers extended music opportunities including an after-school band program beginning in Grade 3 through the Paul Effman Band Company, a Ukulele program for Grades 1–2, and a Middle School Jazz Band that performs annually at the St. Francis Prep Jazz/Pop Concert. Divine Wisdom is also a NYSSMA member school, allowing students who take private lessons to participate in NYSSMA festivals.
