• Expose students to literature from many standpoints: in connection with history, science, and the arts; in pursuit of answers to a question; in consideration of a theme or literary elements; and as a way of gaining insight into human existence.
• Have students build their own dictionary of words that they have investigated in their reading.
• Students will study morphology, etymology, and word history throughout the units.
